Lent 2013...

I want to write more for Lent again this year, but I'm a little late... So, I'm going to update twice a day for about a week to catch up. Hopefully this year I will form a habit, and it won't be another year of just 40 posts during the Lenten season. Please pray with me that that is the case.

For some reason the story of Hosea, along with the story of Jerusalem as an adulterous wife, has resonated with me lately. I think it's comforting to know that God truly loves us no matter what. And it reminds me of something I heard at Revival last week: Jesus loves us so much that he stands between us and Hell and says, "I love you. And if you want to get in there, you're going to have to go through me! It won't be easy, and you'll be a mess by the time you get there, because I'm going to fight for you!" (Isn't that the kind of love we all long for?!)

Anyway, the story of Jerusalem as an adulterous wife can be found in Ezekiel 16. If you want to read it, you can find it here: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel%2016&version=NLT. I must warn you that is very blunt, and quite hard to read, but in the end His grace abounds: "And I will reaffirm my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord. You will remember your sins and cover your mouth in silent shame when I forgive you of all that you have done" (Eze. 16:62-63).
